If you are looking at professional CAM software, have a look at Visual
Mill at www.mecsoft.com its latest version, V3.0 now supports 4 axis
although I'm still only running it in 3-axis mode so far. I've been
using the product since V2.5 (18 months) and LOVE it! I use it with the
Parasolid kernel which is file compatible with my CAD software
(Ironcad). It has full visual simulation and lots of different cutting
sequences. The post processor is fully configurable by the user.

It runs with a parallel port dongle which has not caused me any problems
to any other applications.

For around $100.00 you can receive a 30 evaluation copy which I
recommend. Work through the tutorial and you'll have a good idea of its
capabilities. I've not needed much tech support because the product is
quite easy to drive, but Mecsoft has been pretty good with support
when I have had a problem. You'll see all the pricing options and
documentation downloads on their website.

I've used it for 2 1/2 and 3 axis machining as well as drilling and
tapping and have no complaints - other than creating 3D toolpaths with
multiple tools is very time consuming.
