Personally, I think you have the RIGHT idea. I've designed my DreamMachines
with this in mind. The design is such that the builders will be able to use
all thread, ACME screws or ball screws. depending on how much cash the
individual has available for building. With proper design, the only thing
needed for upgrade from all thread to ACME or ball screws will be the screws
themselves. No bearing or bearing mount changes will be necessary.
Another advantage to using all thread in the beginning, is the fact that the
machine can be initially built and tested for function as a manual (with
handwheels) machine. The handwheels can be left on or removed after
upgrade.
