I am also interested in going this route from ACAD to CNC and have found a
pluggin, that I haven't bought yet so cannot comment on how good it is. I
was waiting until I had finished my machine conversions.

This is from their site @ http://www.autocode.com/aco.htm This is very
expensive.

"The type of machine tool programs generated are for computer numerically
controlled [CNC] tools using standard M and G code word address programming
formats. AUTO-CODE can be used to program Mills, Routers, Lasers, Flame
Cutters, Punch presses, Turning Centers (lathes), Wire EDMs, and similar
machines."

There is also a Thailand based company Power Partners, their products are
Power G-Code for milling and Power G-Lathe for, funny as it seems, lathe.
Priced at $149 and $99 respectively probably the cheapest solution.

I think this is was I'll be going with unless I find a freeware CAM program
I can live with.

| I'm going to start building my first cnc table and I'm trying to do
| it cheaply to start out. It is more a learning process at this point
| and figuring out how to get it all to work and how hard it is to go
| from AutoCad to the CNC. After I get to that point I figure I can
| upgrade to better parts. After looking up the prices on Ball screws I
| am planning on using all-thread attached to a stepper motor for the
| motion control. Will this be an acceptable and usable alternative or
| am I wasting my time ? Thanks for the help.
