V.S.: If I wanted to do that, I would use solid-carbide bits in a mill (used
as a drill-press), keeping water (or water- based soluable cutting-fluid)
drenched on hole as I went deeper. And a less-than 0.002"/turn feed-rate.
Then, either epoxy-in threaded-ID inserts, or use the aluminum inserts that
"swell" when the bolt is threaded-in. Being very, very careful not to BUST
the stone!

Shell Epon 815 is very viscous, about like white Karo syrup, and does not
begin to cure perceptibly for a couple hours after mixing a batch. It cures
very hard (over night), and would be ideal for "fixing" inserts in granite.
Too, it would "creep" into any crevices it found, and amazingly-deep, so,
would "fix" hidden damage, as well!
