Re: How to mount rails on surface plate?

One thing left out of this discussion, starting with myself is that
all linear bearing builders recommend that the linear guide be
installed against a shoulder. the reason for this is that the rail
it's self is not inherently straight (rigid), out of the box. by
placing the rail against a shoulder and using wedges,setscrews or
dowels under a countersunk bolt to press the rail against the
shoulder, you acheive good straightness.
