The term "front end" in this case refers to a program which sends
commands to the indexer-lpt program. Like your hpgl controller "front
end" for indexer. Front end because it sits and does its work "in
front of" the indexer program...

RC, I have written many times (as have others) on the question of g
code controller software. Check the group archive online. There is a
short list in the database section on the group website. Fred S of
Vector has created and posted another similar list on his website.
