I guess I would have to know just what your gettin' for an Arm and a Leg these Days.....
I am am "windows" controller fan myself, so the DOS ones I can't shed too much light on. Let's see, Yeager CNC Pro, TurboCNC,......Those are the popular ones. Of course my favorite is the Windows
based FlashCut, the new version is going to be very nice. Even now, You get a "non-fiddle" with it kind of controller.... Sure, it is a cool 1K, but you get what you pay for. There is the WindeskNC
route as well as the Master5CNC route of which both are talked about in the group occasionally.
Why don't you buy the G-Code front for Indexer ? Could give you the best of both worlds. Or you could use Axis Wizard with Indexer (Hoyt's program) Ultimately, for those in HPGL land, wouldn't it be
nice if Vector sent out a legitimate Indexer File ?? No need for much of a controller at all, just a "copy motor" command !
I think in regards the Arc Commands issue with Indexer, you need to understand it was a generic motion controller before it was a CNC or Machine control.
You should send me a simple DXF file and I could send you back a few variables of output from Signlab. I have not had time to check but I still think it allowed for the AA, AR stuff if you selected
Arc output.
I would have continued to use Indexer and HPGL if a bug or two that were in my old version would have been fixed. (V3) In fairness I think they are fixed now. But, there comes a time when you just
get plain old fed up with the world of hpgl for any machining operations. I't fine for simple tag engraving or Vinyl Cutting when you do not do much editing of any part of the files, But it's a far
cry from g-code.
Most of have gone thru that stage and have learned on the way.
