Me thinks that this is well into the realm of the manly art of severe
overkill.
The cap that is already on the drive and plenty adequate if your wires are
short, you have no fuse, and you are only running 3 amps or less is just a
lowly 100 uf electrolytic. The manufacturer recommendation which is proven
to be plenty successful is to add a 470 uf electrolytic. Now you want to
start putting in low ESR and tantalum caps. What's the point and what do you
think it will do that the 470 uf electrolytic will not other than help empty
your wallet?
Throw on a 470 uf 100 v electrolytic and be done with it. The drive will
work wonderfully.
