If you don't count the tiny burns you get from hot chips, I've never been
hurt on a CNC or EDM. Other then banging your head on the DRO I'm not sure
how you even could get hurt on one. Seen a few people do some nasty things
to them selves on CNCs, really dumb stuff like reaching around a guard while
the machine is running to do something or trying to grab something that
looks like it's coming loose. I have a very strong feeling that my hand is
worth more then a few seconds saved in setup time or a wrench I left on the
machine. On the manual vert mills, every year or two, I manage to get some
hair caught in the quill stop and of course yank my head back instead of
simply lifting the quill.
Now them dam hand tools, that's another story. Guess I've got more
respect/fear for the cnc's then a hand tool.
