Hello friends,
I see you need respect for everything.
I had quite a few nearly accidents and some ugly cuts. But I will never
will forget the moment a barstock cover shifted away, and the 1/2" bar
came out, curled in 1/2 turn like a Spagetti, and hit into the ground 2
cm away from a guest in my shop.
The hole ist still there and since then I never used bars longer then
the spindle
any more. Better to throw left overs away than take risks.
My oficer in army said "Peter, you have the reaction of a valium pill!"
So always when I set up a machine I let the original operator stay at
the
pannel with the hand over the emergency stop button. And in two ocasions
he saved some part of my body.
Two years ago I had to go to hospital for an operation and days before I
noted in a clients machine a problem. It is a Melamin paper layer with
big drums held up with air pistons. As soon the air presure drops the
upper drum crashes down. My propsal was a check in the supply line. The
factories engineer didn't listen (as always!). The operator got his
right under arm and left hand crushed while I was in hospital. An
unrepairable injury for the lack of a cheap check. I still blame myself,
but the engineer still didn't learn his lesson. B...B...!
And possibly I can continue for quite a while.
Off topic: Specially on motorcycle accidents!(or did you have to give
last help? or find a boot with as foot inside?)
Any accident is one accident too much. Lets keep up aviations main
saying:
Safety First.
Best wisses to everybody
