Consider this.....
When your main concern is trying to get a
sensitive low level signal from one place
to another, ground only one end of the
shield. This is because any current flowing
in the shield can actually generate more
interference.
When the signal is high power and radiated
signal is the concern, then current flowing
in the shield is not a major problem. In
this case the shield can be used as
connected ground to prevent shock hazards.
At least that is my thinking.....
