Steve:

You hit it right on the head, as long as the concern is RADIATED interference
from the shielded wires you can indeed ground both ends. You are also
correct about the added interference due to ANY current flow that might occur
and therefore you do not want a complete circuit path, which you could have
if you ground both ends of the shield. In the case of low voltage circuits
on the shielded wires, one would NOT want any current flowing through that
shield so only one end should be grounded.
