Check out the ULN2001A - ULN2005A series of darlington transistor arrays.
Various companies made them. I am looking at the T.I. book here. They are
16 pin DIP with seven drivers per package. Each section rated at 500 ma
and can be paralled. I am using these the control the 14 or so 24V
pneumatic valves in my BTC...
