Program to download to lathe, Telix + Orac

I downloaded Telix and it looks great. I went out this morning to have a
muck about on the lathe and try to get it talking. Set it to 2400 baud, set
up the transfer program correctly for 8 bits, 2400 baud, no parity, X on / X
off and set to Com 1. I connected the lathe to the Com 1 mouse port via the
null modem to it's RS232C. Hyperterminal didn't have any luck sending the
GCode file over. I then tried Telix. Telix offered me numerous protocols to
send the file with, ascii, modem etc. It also kept saying it was offline, as
if it's trying to use the dial modem rather than the null.
Bruce has given me a program he wrote specifically for the Orac which
converts GCodes into a file the Orac will take. I don't know if I'm meant to
send the machine a hello in my GCode or anything. I have been unable to
reach the lathe even with Bruce's tool and am hoping Telix is the answer. I
refuse to believe the lathe is at fault, I seriously doubt the port has ever
even been used. What the heck could be going on with this thing? I set it to
recieve but nothing will accept it's there. Could my mouse's serial port
perhaps be Com 2? Also, any ideas what Aux In and Aux Out might be for?
Perhaps controlling the turret they made? Seems you can take information
from these as part of a program though.
Thanks,
John (looking forward to being able to write GCode while on the toilet, hand
gliding, in the bath, skiing, eating dinner, watching tv........)
