strictly speaking you need 3 wires, signal ground-7
send-2 and recieve-3 it is common and even necessary to send
programs back from the control to the computer. programs are almost
always edited on the machine, so saving a copy for later use is
handy.
Some null cables are wired 2-2 and 3-3 this will not work on Fanuc.
many(most) PC serial ports auto switch the send/recieve pins. Fanuc
does not. it must be wired 2-3 and 3-2
As well for a 3 wire cable Fanuc pins 4-5 and 6-8-20 Must be jumpered
together.
