Strictly speaking, we used two wires and nothing but. All edit was done at
the computer and new output sent again. If you've ever edited a program on
a Boss 5 keypad you might agree with this practice; even then with
hand-written code and no CAD/CAM the text editor was easier. Am surprised I
recalled the right two pins, as it's been 15 years, but that was the case.

It's all according to your prefs. As for original problem by other person,
what do you suggest he do?
