This is one thing that you've always got to consider - whether the chip
ahead of the one you determine to be defective is also defective and ready
to destroy another chip for you. If the second chip pops, it's best to look
further before trying the third. It would be an unlikely coincidence for
both "replacements" to be defective.

| That happened to me 4 days ago, till now I dont know why it burned
|out.after replacing just the l298 it burned out again, replace it for
|the third time and it burned again, than I replaced the l297 and it
|works fine now.
| some how the l297 was shorting out the l298.
