A bit of ancient history. The "Centronics" interface and connector predate
the PC in any of its forms. I don't know exactly when Centronics started
manufacturing printers, but IIRC I first ran into it some time in the early
'70s. When the PC took off it was cast in blue concrete 8o)). It looks like
USB and/or Firewire will probably finally kill it off in the not too distant
future.
