Doug,
Install a silicone avalanche suppresser at the entry point to the
building and then a 75 foot coil of twisted pair phone wire in a 16 inch
diameter coil. Make sure the suppresser goes to a GOOD ground with 10
gauge wire.
You can quite often obtain the suppressor blocks at no charge from a
phone company foreman.
