Yes, I do know that Mach1 and others can provide some pretty respectable
rates. But, these programs either use drivers or a hardware rate generator
and are not the result of a typical first effort by someone writing code in
Visual Basic. You'll note the fellow asking the question about motor
capability also mentioned that he was considering writing his own controller
using Visual Basic.

As far as someone being strapped for cash, computers coming 'off lease'
these days can be purchased for relatively little money so I'd recommend
going that route rather than multitasking one machine to run parts while
it's performing what I'd describe as 'office automation' activities.

|25000 or so pulses from the parallel port, Indexer LPT ("Windows" in
|most respects)has runn 100,000 pulses, and the new 32 bit Flashcut (
|another excellent windows control) can run as high as 35000.....

|get by with one computer, I have run some 20-30K lines of test code with
|Flashcut *While* on the internet downloading, running Mpegs, Checking
|Mail, Editing Code and Drawing my next job. Not sure why I'd want
|anything else.
