It IS !! Like I mentioned earlier, I used/played with this technique on
an older version.
It is used like this:
Install a G28 where you want the machine to begin the automated limit
switch check. G28 tells the machine to run at rapid to machine 0.

routine. If preferred, it can be told to "poll" the switches numerous
times and automatically reset the file "if within preset guidelines" or
Pause, or just "always reset zero"

X-Y to the line right before the point of the earlier G28 call at rapid,
then plunge to the previous depth and continue.
Though not my experience, It is a very nice feature for those who are
afraid to walk away from a Stepper Driven system thinking that it is
about to fall off the edge of reality at any moment. :-)
