Carl,
as you know , there is an existing DRO application in DOS. It gets counts
directly over the parallel port. I want to use it to send count updates to
the controller
over the Ethernet. I set up DOS machine with WATTCP - ping time from DOS
to Linux equals 0.3 ms. I suspect that it should be much shorter using UDP.
It seems to me a much easier way to do a universal DRO interface then making
FPGA.
