If you live in an area where the AC Line Voltage varies
considerably, and have worries about over-voltage problems,
one of the solutions that I found is the use of "Sola"
(Brand Name) transformers.
Plug it into the wall and plug you power supply into it.
These are expensive new, but I often see them in surplus
stores, quite reasonable. Find one local if possible, these
can be quite heavy.
A Sola transformer is a 1:1 ratio "autotransformer" that
uses a saturated core to provide line voltage regulation.
Even though these do not provide electrical isolation,
they can provide as a bonus, good noise suppression and
very good surge suppression.
