Huh? Why can't you switch it on? Make it such that the flag covers
part of the
connector, but not the cable. Or, use a right-angle connector hood.
Once the connector
is fully inserted, the switch flag should clear the connector. While I
haven't made such
a thing, I've seen them on really critical systems in medical and
aerospace gear.
