Peter,

The half-step sequence repeats after 8 half-steps (0-,+-,+0,++,0+,-+,-
0,--). Still 50 repetitions within one full revolution (400 / 8 = 50).

Half-stepping can be considered a 2 microstep per step drive. If you
graph out the above sequence, it will have a passing resemblence to a
sine-cosine function.
