If one motor is hard to turn with the *power off*, at the very least
he has a bad motor bearing, bound up linkage or some mechanical
problem. I don't thing shorted turns in a stepper will make it hard
to turn with no power on it. Hopefully his 4 Amp fuse in front of his
5A fuse (?!) may have saved the Gecko. If the motor is shorted the
Gecko FETS are probably toast since they don't seem to have pulse by
pulse current limiting.
