any and all safety rules are intelegent. rules are not formed until
someone has an accident. you do not wear nomex suits at grinders,
BUT it hot grinding chps were often involved in catastrophic thermite
reactions, you would.
ditto safety glasses.
I have had visitors say that the safety glasses are uncomfortable and
that due to comfort, wearing them made them less safe. neat thing is
that every one could see on their drive home.
I worked of ra guy with one good eye. he found out just how violent
a grinding wheel comes apart. he always wore them after as his next
accident would render him totally blind.
a great saying is
"YOUR ARE ONLY AS SAFE AS YOUR MOST UNSAFE ACT"
