Im not sure what you mean when you talk about your controller, but Bobs breakout board would go between your computer and your stepper drives. You plug your parallel cable into the breakout board...the breakout board directs the Step/Direction and relay activation signals out and any limit switch inputs in to the PC.

If you are running Gecko drives, there is a 5V common output designed to feed the drives and if you use Mach1, there is a Mach1 version of the board that takes advantage of the charge pump safety in Mach1/2.

I'm using Bobs board with Geckos and Mach1. It works very well and makes wiring the machine a painless process.
