I've not tried it, but they make something called a "swivel knife" for
leatherworking. Tandy Leather sells them, and they're not horribly
expensive -- I still have mine from 25 years ago. It just occurred to
me, that it may work for vinyl cutting...and the blades are thick enough
to sharpen/hone, but also replacable. Well...unless they've changed the
design significantly.
