In a manner similar to how you offset side-milling cutters. You either have
the driver compensate for it while interpreting G-codes, or you have the CAM
program generate pre-offset G-codes.
The only difference is that with side milling, the offset vector is
perpendicular to the cutting line (on the left or right, user's choice),
whereas with knife cutting, the offset vector is tangent to the cutting line
(and in the "forward" direction).
