Dale,
I'd recommend the 1V 4A drives of the two, but I'm using 3 Amp 3.3
Volt 231oz/in motors running at 42volts on my 2010. I wouldn't go
for anything smaller.
I went for the Gecko 210's which have an inbuilt pulse multiplier
(x1/x2/x5/x10). This lets you set them up as if they were full-step
drives but using microstepping internally, so they'll work with
software that can only give a low drive pulse rate. The interface
also has a mode that lets you have a common ground input as opposed
to common 5 Volts. this means you can drive them direct from a PC
parallel port, unlike the 201's. You can always remove the internal
daughter card to revert the 210's to 201's.
A opto-isolated breakout board is highly recommended in any case.
