OK so the general conclusion is: it is not a "pure" lathe but more
like a mill with an A-axis.

Now if one is to try to use CAM system to generate the toolpath, what
is an easy way to ensure a seamless "joint" when one goes from the
left end of the "flat earth" to the other right end, which in a
real "round earth" are actually the same point/edge.
