Timely question. I recently bought a low cost 8" stroke linear actuator
with a 1" diamter ballscrew that looks like it would make a good drive
unit for a hexapod machining center. But I am still in the gathering
information stage and I seemed to have hit a road block with software. I
have heard that EMC in the kinematic mode would run a hexapod. The big
problem that I haven't gotten and answer for is what software would you
create your tool path with and or would you have to manually write
toolpath files? Not being versed in the kinematic mode of EMC and how to
program a hexapod it seems like it may not be a good project unless it
could be programed as easily as a standard cnc machine yousing G code.
