had with half step drives and software that put out a ragged pulse
stream I had huge resonance problems. I could rapid it at 60 ipm or so,
but if I tried to cut a 1/2" radius circle at 5 ipm I would loose steps
every time as it went around the circle. Now on other machines I have
with a microstep drive and software with a much better pulse pacing they
are rock solid all the way up to the point that the steppers just poop
out. On my Bridgeport I am running servos with Gecko G320 drives. The
only difference between that and the results I got when I had steppers
with G210s on it is that I can accelerate much harder now and the max
rapid it about double. Repeatability and accuracy is identical.
