Not to be off-topic, but you would do better to solder five 4.7K ohm 1 W
resistors in parallel. Five 1K ohm resistors in parallel would yield a
resistance of only 200 ohms.
Googling "resistors in parallel" resulted in:
http://www.physics.uoguelph.ca/tutorials/ohm/Q.ohm.intro.parallel.html
which explains how to calculate the result.
