Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking. And thats about the least
expensive model. The realy fancy laser stuff can run a few hundred
thousand bucks!

The hardware looks to be VERY simple to work out, its just the
interface to the software that would give me trouble. I can do some
AVR programming and could even generate a 3d co-ordiante all in the
microcontroller, but geting it from there into 3dsMax is what I not
sure about.
I'd be happy to just generate one point at a time and a build a
polymesh that way. I'm building 3d game models mostly and dont need
or want a gazillion Verticies, just whats needed.
