glueing teflon and such

on 2003-08-07 18:45:53 UTC
Hi all,

I am looking at a linear slide and want to use some HDPE or Teflon as
the bearing surface material.

For this, I was looking at getting some 1/16 sheet and slicing up the
sections I need, then using some sort of adhesive, to glue them to
some aluminum.

Of course the first question is surface prep. if teflon is a non-
stick, how do you get it to stick ?

There will be very little pressure on this as it is more for
postioning than pressures involved in cutting.

am thinking about hard anodizing the aluminum before assembly and
need to find out more about surface conditions. Like, does anodizing
raise the surface and make for a rougher surface ?

Any ideas ?

Dave
