How do you know it has "forgotten" a line, or a byte? If you mean a line
of G-code, that would not be in the eprom (read only memory), but in the
RAM (random access memory) that is used to store temporary information
like the program that is executing right now.

You need an EPROM programmer, which can both read and write these
chips.
