There is a cnc control mfgr in Penn. named Centriod corp.
Their controls are the real thing, good and reliable.
However they are in my opinion, on the upper end of the price scale.
They have spun-off a company recently called Ajax CNC. Some of the
stuff shows up on EBAY from time to time.
I have recently looked over their offerings, and was quite impressed
with the features, and prices. I spent some time investigating all
aspects of the hardware and software. Was fairly serious about a
purchase, but then almost as a last question, I inquired about
warranty. I was matter-of-factly told that there is NO warranty, and
the hardware/software is sold on a NON-warranty basis. They "assured"
me that the stuff is -very- reliable, and is tested before shipment.
That dosen't provide much comfort level on a "several thousand dollar"
purchase for me unfortunately. I have seen electronics fail in the
first 60-90 days of use many times.
How dissappointing! The prices were around the "too good to be
true" range also.....no wonder.
Needless to say, I was surprized, and I guess maybe "caught off guard"
by this. I can't believe they think they will sell anything without
some sort of free-of-defect warranty. Their explanation was that
people buy the product, and manage to hook things up wrong, and fry
boards, etc., so they can't bear the cost of replacement parts due to
mis-use, etc.
I'm wondering if state law says anything about warranty on products
sold "as new", and if there could be some sort of free-of-defects
guarrentee/warranty on any -new- product sold in the state of PA that
-must- be honored by anyone conducting business in the state?
Just an FYI to anyone looking at, or considering a purchase of the
Ajax CNC products. I believe this does NOT apply to Centriod CNC
products.
Quite dissappointing.
