Well, Ron
Our experiences are quite similar.
Always noticed a slightly arrogant (take it-or-leave-it)attitude and
in-flexable approach from them myself. (that always stood in the way
of a purchase on my part, oddly enough)
The demo was quite dissappointing to me too. They told me it "dosesn't
do very much" without the drives/motors hooked up. Well....duh...
thanks for wasting about an hour of my time. Simulated output and
ability to simulate "running" a prospects program would be the least
it should do.
I must say I -do- like their software features/abilities (its
capabilities are proven over several years) , and the fact that they
have mill and lathe software -would- fit in with my plans. I have 6
lathes and 5 mills I'd like to retrofit, and have all the same
software onboard for ease of use......like Haas machines. Their drives
have good features, and capable of 500+ IPM rapid rates also, which I
require.
I will tell you just who Ajax thinks they are.
They think that low ball pricing without warrranty (shhh! don't
mention that part)will boost sales for Centroid, which I'd guess is
hurting badly financially at this point. Big mistake! And a negative
mark on the company as a whole.
You can only sell so many $16-20,000 Centroid systems to smaller
shops, and NOT many in todays economy. I think their market is
saturated at this point. And apparently you can sell even fewer (or
none) "low cost" Ajax "no warranty" systems.
Bad move......

software but theirs. Also if you would like another "seat" for the (a
separate copy) program it was $800.00. I wanted one larger motor and a
few other features and it was like $4200. And considering there was no
warranty I made them an offer of $3900 in which they promptly refused

using: Mach2, Gecko and Sound-logic. And am I glad I did. What a nice
system. They called me back
