There was a similar 'upset' at that time when a bunch of guys wanted
to talk professional topics. They started the jobshophomeshop list.
within a week, the general tone of the group lightened a bit.
I see it as a learning curve. This list is the first step. Once you
reach a level where your needs are for using the machines, or selling
the stuff you make, it is time to move on.
The problem is letting go. It feels like home, but is just a stone
on the path.
But once you have the machine, the drivers, the software... Once you
are making parts, why do you remain here ? (rhetorical question)
A lot of the really knowledgeable posters hang out for both interest
and to give back.
I have been on other lists that mentioned that we here at CCED are
too high of a level for them now.
I have an idea that the DIY-CNC list will be the next step. The
cutting feeds and speeds, the where do I get metal, the broader
ranges of topics that interest people who have and use the machines
and have their attention on the next thing.
Also, I see the DIY-CNC list as a step towards the jobshophomeshop
list where professionals go to figure out how to make $$ on the
business side.
At least that it my take on it.

I wonder just how many lists this one has fostered ? I can think of
a half dozen that are strong. That is a testament to the strength
of the list and the topic.
