One thing we don't often mention, or don't mention enough is that
leadscrews are precison shafts with threads. ACME screws are similar
to all-thread (threaded rod) but with a different screw pattern.

ACME screws usually are not nearly the quality as leadscrews. But as
many people don't have really high requirements, it does not matter.

On the other hand, if you are looking for ball screw accuracy at a
bargan price, you get what you pay for.

I have been using all-thread on one machine for a year now and
because I took the time to file off evey bump it works well.

I didn't use the same care with some stainless ACME and it shredded
the plastic nuts. I could feel the lumps on the thread when I pulled
it apart.
