Peter: Since the lathe seems to work with steppers, direct-coupled to the
4mm pitch screws (same as I have on mine!), and it appears from your question
that you simply want to increase the available torque, why not just install
Superior Electric (or competing "exact replacement") KML093-nnnn bipolar "square
body" steppers! The two-stack is VERY powerful and excellent. Use Gecko
drives, if you don't have bipolar drives already. Jan Rowland
