You may be able to order the same machine with EITHER a 3-phase or
single-phase motor. 120/240 V motors are no big deal, but there is no
such thing as a single-phase/3-phase motor, just by switching a few
wires in the junction panel.

Well, everybody has their own way of kicking themselves in the rear, but
having used a VFD on 2 machines (lathe and mill) I would never want to
go back to other methods. The VFD has SO many benefits!
