I'm mulling a similar problem: I'll be cutting veneer for marquetry
pieces. I'm considering hide glue, or elmer's and an iron: coat the
two surfaces, let them dry then fuse the two surfaces. Has anyone
used this technique?

small pieces of double sided tape on the transfer paper in different
places (like the corners, middle, just ramdom places) . This will
hold down you wood to your router table.
calibrate you cnc router to the top of the material, so you can set
you "Z" depth to the thickness of the wood your going to cut. If you
done it right, the router bit will just kiss the transfer paper
(transfer paper is about .005 of an inch thick), and you will have
some very nice parts (without flying out the table or getting damaged
by the router bit!)
it if you have trouble.
there, for OT subjects, that are not allowed on the CCED list.
