Todd,
For small parts, once the vacuum system has held it down, you will need to
add tabs to the small parts so that they do not come loose. Vacuum systems
are not very good for small parts.
Commercial system use a high flow vacuum system that will suck through a
sheet of MDF and hold down the sheet that you are going to cut. The bit will
go through the part and slightly into the sheet of MDF. This work very well
for large pieces (12" by 12" or larger). In your case you can use tabs
placed so that the parts never get cut all the way out. You can then go back
and cut the tabs off by hand.
