Why not put the part before the horse?
Do you have a bandsaw or tablesaw?
Mill your parts on 4/4 stock and resaw them to the desired thickness.
This would work for the wooden parts, the chloroplast could be
temporarily glued or screwed. Nothing that I know of will glue to
chloroplast.
