Okay, okay, I forgot to use the normal, passive-voice, non-absolute,
noncommittal legalese in my wording, so, let me try again:
MY Dremel has ball bearings on the spindle, and bushings on the
armature. IT has stood up to everything I'VE given it, including axial
loads from plunging 1/8" bits into AL. While there is a plastic sleeve
between the armature and spindle on MY Dremel, the spindle bearings are
completely encased in plastic. There is a plastic sleeve that screws
onto the case halves and give it extra strength. MY Dremel has no
rubber mounts for the bearings. Nor do I see any in the product manuals
I've checked on the Dremel site.
MY Dremel doesn't have enough wobble to preclude MY using it for
anything I need, including milling PC boards.
Furthermore, in the galaxy I live in, all ball bearings I'VE seen
withstand axial loads, otherwise the balls would fall out. We're not
talking Timken tapered roller wheel bearing semi truck jack-knifing
loads, but loads from drilling and milling with small bits in
non-ferrous materials.
Regards,
JJ
ps. Oh yeah, YMMV. That should cover everything :-)
