Hah! SEE? All those horror stories are not necessarily true, after all.
A suitably large transformer-rectifier power supply pretty much HAS to
work, and can be debugged with just a DVM. A switcher is more complicated,
and some may be sensitive to rapidly fluctuating loads, but at least
here's proof
that they CAN work.
