Depends on how accurate you need to be. The paper trick works well. If
I'm working on a manual mill, I generally touch off with the cutter
running. As soon as you see the slightest little hint of a chip, you're there.

I ordered a complete Centroid retrofit for my BOSS 9. Might be here this
week. Includes a tool height setter that works through the computer. Z
comes down 'til it hits the electronic height setter and stops. Supposed
to be accurate to 2 tenths.
